Manchester United FC Pro Footballer

I wanted to share the results of a recent Pro Footballer shoot with you. Owen is a massive Manchester United FC fan and his mum thought one of my PRO FOOTBALLER posters would make a perfect gift for his 8th birthday.

A lot of my shoots relate to a concept, and so as always, I will agree details of the shoot and discuss accessories and clothing to help achieve the look we are after.

For Pro Footballer shots it's simple. Turn up wearing your favorite football kit and bring some accessories such as favorite football, football boots etc. Not only was Owen fully prepped and looking very cool to start shooting, (thanks to his mum aswell of course) they also bought his Manchester United goalie kit with gloves, so where I haven't shot a keeper before, I was keen and pretty excited to see what we could do with it.

My style in most of my photography is dramatic, especially when it comes to the Pro Footballer shoots, so I don't tend to do big cheesy smiles etc. It's more about trying to make the players look larger than life and to add presence and impact.

Owen nailed this concept straight away. Sometimes people need a few minutes to get in the groove for a photoshoot. I'm the worst for wanting my picture taken, but he was bang in form from the very first shot posing with an 'I MEAN BUSINESS' look which is exactly what I strive for. Of course the downside to him doing so good is we ended up with too many great shots to choose from!

As always, here are the before and afters shots.

If you have checked out my Pro Footballer page, you'll know that the finishing touch is for the image to be mounted onto a black background with a Player ID and then delivered in a high quality 24"x16" print. This is the part of the process I enjoy most, especially when clients see the print for the first time. Here is what Owen's print looked like mounted:

Where Owen did such a great job with the posing and had two kits, his mum was keen to see if we could do some 7x5"s on the white background to be framed in a montage. Whilst these were shot with compositing in mind, I managed to have a play  around with them and add some effects which resulted in these 6 images which were also pretty cool:

Owen did a top job with these and am hoping he loves the final image when he opens it on his birthday. I really like them all and have finally added a goalkeeper to my Pro Footballer portfolio!

Thanks for reading.

Stu
